Pre-Professional Ballet Program

Director: Mme Peff Modelski

This Coaching Program dedicated to the success of each individual dancer, increasing their knowledge of classical tradition and enabling adaptation to the stylistic demands of the major companies.

This program intends to develop the strength, and the mental sharpness and physical ability which are the hallmarks of successful artists.

With their dedication and commitment, these young dancers will achieve flexibility, strong technique without limitations or affectations, and learn the differences between the various balletic styles of traditional classical ballet, neo-classical and contemporary choreography.

MISSION STATEMENT

· To provide professional level coaching and training which enhances technique, building consistency, confidence and performance artistry,

LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Based upon the foundations of classical tradition of the finest European training, including Cecchetti, Vaganova, & Paris Opera.

· Daily technique classes, including barre and centre work, followed by variations and partnering.

· Men’s variations may include Don Q, Corsaire, Bayadere.

· Girl’s variations may include Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty.

Male and female student’s freshman in High School – Adult; advanced level with at least 5 years of training (2-5 years of point for girls).

PROGRAM PREREQUISITES

· Video of dancing

· Interview (to be scheduled after audition)

· Photographs of positions

Girls: tendu croise front, 2nde, arabesque, 1st arabesque, attitude front and back, passé releve, developpe in 2nde

Boys: Same as girls

· Doctor’s physical examination.

Ladies should wear a leotard and pink tights, bring pointe shoes, and men in black or grey tights with a tight fitting black or white shirt.
